Software Engineer - Front End

An online start up in the higher education and academic publishing sector has an opening for a Software Engineer to join their mission-driven team. In this key role you will have the opportunity to use your knowledge and creativity as a developer to influence product development using cutting-edge frameworks and software tools. We are ideally looking for a developer to join the team in London, but remote working in the UK or Europe will be considered for the perfect candidate. 

Key duties:

• Work with a global, cross-functional, product-driven team to build user interfaces and functionality for a variety of different customers
• Develop and maintain features for the platform
• Implement client side code in line with mock-ups provided
• Test code written using well known frameworks
• Handle codebase for web app
• Continuous Integration & Deployment
• Handling native app codebase written in React Native/Redux
• Understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
• Work with stakeholders to define the best solutions to development problems and business requirements
• Set deadlines and communicate often about progress toward those goals

Experience / skills required:

• Solid experience with Javascript framework
• Polymer/ Redux/ React Native experience is highly advantageous
• Familiarity with using JIRA
• Experience of contributing to open source projects (Nodes.js knowledge preferred)
• Experience with Amazon Web Services, or other cloud providers
• Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple incoming requests
