Temp Project Editor

This is a really exciting opportunity to work across a varied range of formats in both project management, hands-on editorial work, commissioning, with the opportunity to work on projects within professional education and examinations.

Our client is a well established professional publishing house based near Croydon. They produce a range of publications in multiple formats including reference books, software and increasingly online services. A small and friendly team, they are seeking a Project Editor to join them to work closely with their biggest client contract for 7 weeks.

The role will involve taking on multiple print and online projects at varying stages of development and project managing these through to successful publication. As well as quality checking the work of freelancers and ensuring that publishing schedules are adhered to, you will commission both new content and enhance existing content to meet market needs. The company works with a tailored XML based product and they now need someone to come in to put in effective processes to ensure the quality of the content and end products remains high and while prior knowledge of XML is not essential, this will be a great opportunity for the successful candidate to learn more about using it through a CMS.

The successful candidate will be an experienced editor with solid experience of the professional, financial or legal publishing environment. You will be use to publishing in print and online. With strong traditional editorial skills in terms of control of style, clarity of writing and attention to detail, you must be able to work effectively under pressure while prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines. A practical approach to project and task management is essential.
