TEMP Project Editor / Development Editor

A lively and independent illustrated publisher of non-fiction books in central London is looking for a Temp Project Editor/Development Editor for their growing team. You will join a small, innovative, creative, hard-working and dedicated team to work on a range of illustrated titles across life style, well being, reference, humour and cookery..

As Project Editor/Development Editor you will be a key part of the pitching department and focus on ideas-generation, developing and commissioning new proposals and managing authors, editors, designers and freelancers. Other key responsibilities will include managing new titles through production process, briefing text and design to editorial staff, negotiating fees where necessary, and overseeing editorial processes. The ideal candidate will have good contacts and commercial knowledge within illustrated non-fiction books with excellent editorial and project management skills.

You must have proven commissioning experience in a book publishing environment and working to budgets and schedules. You should have good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively on all levels and enjoy using your initiative. The successful candidate will have great attention to detail and be brimming with ideas as you would be working in a very creative environment.
