Salary: £32,411 - £36,333 per annum

The role

In an exciting new post for the Press you will be providing technical and administrative support for our recently launched BUP Digital platform (the key channel for the delivery of our digital journals and books). Based on an in depth understanding of all the systems and processes involved you will provide support to your colleagues across the business in their use of the platform and will be the primary point of contact in the relationship with the site developer. Maximising the discoverability of our content, and the subsequent successful access to it by our customers, is key to the role. In all instances you will ensure that the platform, the service, and the content delivered meets the highest quality standards possible.

What will you be doing?

As the inhouse subject expert you will provide all aspects of technical support for BUP Digital including day to day contact with the external developer, raising bug tickets and enhancement requests, testing, setting up user accounts, supporting production in content loading, as required editing content and metadata, and supporting the wider business users in the functioning and use of the site.

You will manage regular meetings with the external developer as well as with in-house working groups to ensure that the site is maintained and developed and information communicated clearly to all stakeholders, creating and running reports as necessary. As required, you will liaise with third party discoverability services and check that all the appropriate metadata and content is making it through to their systems.

Candidates with either a background in online technologies or with publishing experience in an operational role, such as production, are encouraged to apply, considering their transferable skills from the areas below:

  • Experience of working with XML, ideally with regards to books and journals content.
  • Experience of metadata management, digital asset management and/or digital publishing.
  • Experience of using and managing online platforms.
