Head of English Language Content, Audiobook

Salary: £50,000-£60,000 – depending on experience

This is a full time, permanent role, based in London, with flexibility to work from home each week.

As a pivotal member of our international development team, you'll support with strategies to expand our presence in both the UK and US markets, cultivate partnerships with publishers, manage publisher catalogues and coordinate our international events programme. Key Tasks:

Business Development:

  • Devise, execute and adapt strategies to expand business in the US and UK markets with support from senior management
  • Manage co-production budgets and identify lucrative partnership opportunities.
  • Tailor persuasive pitches to potential publishers, addressing their specific needs.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of potential publishers and oversee international event planning.
  • Assist senior management in tendering processes and contract renewals.
  • Researching and negotiating with key new audiobook services in the UK and US markets.

Publisher Management:

  • Foster relationships with new and existing partners, exploring additional business avenues.
  • Coordinate with partners to resolve distribution issues and ensure accurate metadata for audiobook titles.
  • Conduct regular account reviews and handle publisher challenges

Legal and Operations:

  • Collaborate with legal teams to finalise agreements and onboard new publishers.
  • Work with content operations teams to streamline content delivery processes.

Event Management:

  • Develop and implement an international events strategy, including negotiating costs and representing the company at events.
  • Organize and design panel discussions and presentations.


  • Provide regular updates to senior management on market and revenue progression.
  • Compile monthly management reports and review quarterly royalty reports.


  • Plan and manage the budget for US and UK business development to ensure efficient resource allocation.

Your skills & experience:

The role will suit a results-driven professional with a passion for business development and a desire to make a significant impact. You should have a blend of strategic thinking, relationship-building skills, and a knack for driving growth. You will have 7+ year’s experience in the publishing industry and knowledge of the audiobook sector is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Strategic Thinking: Develop and implement long-term business strategies for expansion into new markets (UK and US)
  • Communication and Negotiation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective negotiation with UK and US partners
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders worldwide.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple high-stake projects & prioritise tasks
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with teams to achieve common goals
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and business priorities.
  • Language: English must be your first language for effective communication. Fluency in one or more foreign languages is highly desirable.
