Publicist/Senior Publicist - Harvard University Press: 12 months FTC (maternity cover)

A renowned international publisher is seeking to appoint an experienced Publicist (12 month fixed-term contract) to their London Office.

With solid experience working in a busy press office, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a flair for writing creative copy and the proven ability of planning and executing successful publicity campaigns across a range of media.

Reporting to the Head of Sales and Marketing, you will play a key role in achieving coverage for a diverse range of academic titles, as well as arranging author talks and events. Working within a small and busy marketing department, it is essential to be able to work to deadline on multiple projects, whilst establishing superb author and media relations.

Key duties

  • Proven track record of independently developing tailored publicity plans for assigned titles: creating press materials; developing and managing media relationships; arranging, where appropriate, interviews (print and broadcast); handling author events.
  • Good contacts across print and online media
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with authors
  • Pitching seasonal lists to major national book review media (print and broadcast)
  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
